Information-

11 year old Isabella would be the exact definition of a push me pull me toy. With her white mother and black father divorced (and getting on more terrible than ever) she spends a week with her mom and a week with her dad. Her parents fight about simple things, like who’s doing the dishes, and one Kool-Aid incident. Whenever Isabella goes to each of her parents' houses, it’s not just switching backpacks or nicknames, it’s switching identities.

At school they learned about lynching and the mistreating of black people. A kid named Logan Lindquist makes a snide remark about lynching, saying that it was completely harmless and no big deal. After gym, Isabella’s best friend, Imani, found a noose hanging on her coat hanger.

Traveling through this whimsical book, Isabella is faced with both racial problems and family problems, until she is faced with her possibly last problem of her life- Isabella was shot in the arm after she and her stepbrother were framed. Can Isabella survive and become whole?
